The majority of the single-family houses in the beachside community of MJL at Jumeirah are in low-rise buildings. In front of Jumeirah Beach, there are a number of luxury hotels, the most noteworthy of which is the well-known Burj al Arab, whose spectacular construction has come to symbolize Dubai. The Burj al-Arab is located offshore on a made-up island.
Its neighbours include the Madinat Jumeirah, which is home to three lavish five-star hotels: Mina A'Salam, Al Qasr, and Dar Al Masyaf, as well as the Jumeirah Beach Hotel. These hotels are surrounded by a sizable number of shops, residences, and a pier that protrudes into the wide Arabian Gulf.
